Thank you both for your replies and helping me. So I believe you two are onto something. Today I turned on the virtual lab (VMWare workstation 9) and I found the "VMWare Vsphere Web Client" service was stopped. I tried to start it and received the error in the screen shot below. I tried the suggestion in the KB article with the symbolic link and that brought no luck. The installation was the defaults with no odd directories or change of path's or port numbers. I have the firewall off and its installed on Server 2008 R2. So, I checked the event log as the error suggested and just saw one entry stating "The VMWare Vsphere Web Client service terminated with service-specific error Incorrect Function." I'm stumped as I did a standard install....I modified nothing. I have a DC virtual machine, a SQL 2008 VM, and then this Vcenter VM that has vcenter/vsphere installed. The local client still works but just not the web client. I've added two esxi boxes to the vsphere local client without issue. I'm puzzled but I'd like to use this feature as I know the local client is going away soon.
