I have Windows XP VM's using version 10 hardware and have no issues with unknown PCI device because I don't have them configured to use SATA on either the Hard Drive and or CD/DVD. So make sure neither the Hard Drive and or CD/DVD setting are using SATA in Windows XP and you'll be fine!
